Private day tours

The same sights. None of the timetable.

Every tour below is private. It is your car, your driver and your day — so a stop lasts as long as it deserves, and nothing is skipped because forty other people are waiting on a bus.

Tour 01

The Golden Circle

The three that everyone comes for, close enough together to do properly in a day.

Low winter sun over Þingvallavatn, seen from a viewpoint with a handful of people at the railing
A viewpoint over Þingvallavatn in January. Blue sky, low sun, nobody in a hurry.
47 km from town

Þingvellir

The rift valley where the Atlantic is pulling Iceland in two, and where the old parliament met for eight centuries.

Geysir

Strokkur

The geyser that still performs, every few minutes, close enough to feel it.

116 km from town

Gullfoss

The waterfall the route is named for — two drops into a canyon, loud enough to end conversation.

Tour 02

The South Coast

A longer day, and the one people talk about afterwards. Waterfalls you can walk behind, black sand, and the sea coming in hard.

The Reynisdrangar sea stacks off Vík, black against a low orange sunset over the sea
Reynisdrangar, the sea stacks off Vík, at sunset. The far end of the South Coast day.
Seljalandsfoss

Behind the water

A path runs all the way around the back of the falls. You will get wet. It is worth it.

Skógafoss

Sixty metres

A wall of water you can stand at the foot of, with steps climbing the side for the view down.

187 km from town

Reynisfjara & Vík

Black sand, basalt columns and the sea stacks offshore. The waves here are genuinely dangerous — you will be told where to stand.

Tour 03

Northern lights

An evening drive out of the city lights, chosen on the night from the forecast and the cloud — not from a fixed route.

Green and pink northern lights over a dark mountain ridge under a starry sky
Northern lights over the ridge, on one of the nights it comes.

Nobody can promise you the aurora. It needs darkness, a clear sky and solar activity at the same time, and no driver on earth controls any of the three. What a private car buys you is the freedom to chase the gap in the cloud, and to stay out when it is worth staying out.

Tour 04

Your own route

The tours above are the well-worn ones. They are not the limit. Every trip, listed or not, depends on the weather on the day — Snorri will say so plainly.

Blue icebergs on Jökulsárlón, with the glacier tongue and snow-covered mountains behind
Jökulsárlón, the glacier lagoon. 377 km out, and worth every one of them.

Snæfellsnes

The peninsula that gets called "Iceland in miniature" — a glacier, black churches, lava fields and sea cliffs in one long day. About ten hours, 151,000 ISK.

Jökulsárlón

The glacier lagoon, 377 km out. A very long day trip, and better as an overnight — ask and it can be planned properly.

Private groups

Family, wedding party, colleagues. More than fit in one car is fine — there is more than one. Tell us the number and the day and it gets built around you.

Something specific

A film location, a hot spring, the farm your family came from. If it can be driven to, it can be arranged.

What the price covers

The prices above are for the car, not per person — the same number whether there is one of you or four. Anything not listed is quoted per trip: tell us the plan and you get a number back before anything is booked. You pay in the car on the day, card or cash — nothing is charged online.
